We The People


 

 

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America….”- Constitution Preamble

These are the words that this country was built on, so why the rallying on ground zero and debates on whether to allow a muslim mosque to be built?  As citizens of this country, we must do everything to defend what our forefathers built this land on, freedom of religion is one of them. 

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances” – First Amendment

We constantly complain about our rights to speech, to dress, to vote, to do whatever is in our God-given right, yet we tell others they can not.  Is this not America?  Home of the free, land of the brave?

We are all hurt by the tragedies of 9/11 and we hope that one day we can all live in peace.  Many 9/11 survivors and families are demonstrating against the muslim mosque.  Some say it is a disrespect to our nation if we allow them to build on the very soil that so many of our Americans perished and died on without warning.  Do we blame all muslims for the heinous crimes committed by rotten apples?  In order to create peace, we must learn to accept that this country is a melting pot of many races, religions and creeds.  Not all muslims are bad.  Most want to live in peace which is why they come to our mother land.  If we demonstrate hatred, we are no better than the mongrels that committed these suicide bombings. 

“But how can we allow them to slap us in the face like this?”  Well, you learn to be open-minded.  This is no different from blacks being discriminated upon, or jews in the holocaust, or Latinos being downgraded.  We can’t blame everyone.  A mosque is a religious sanctuary and creates peace and I believe this is what need, to finally let our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers and loved ones be at peace. 

Maybe, just maybe, this is the start of something new?
